A Multitude of Sins

December 4, 2008

“I’ve never given much thought to how I would die, but dying in place of all things sweet seems like a good way to go.” – Twilight

Last weekend, I went to Silver City at Metropolis and watched Twilight.  As the film started to roll, I listened to Bella’s voice and it got me thinking about death. No – not the agonizing, and emotional passing of someone, but rather the opposite – it got me thinking about Death By Chocolate.

Death By Chocolate was first established in New Zealand in 1991, and is self proclaimed “The Ultimate Dessert Destination”. And in fact, I quite agree. Death By Chocolate is a dessert lover’s dream. They serve up delicious treats that appeal to all the senses. With every plate comes inspiration and dreams.

My chocolate covered Latin Lover
The last time I went, I got myself a nice big slice of chocolate cake. Too big for me, I only finished half and still ended up having a tooth ache for weeks after. Upon visiting their website for the first time, I explored and to my delight, I found an online menu. Page after page, I feasted my eyes on sweet baked goods. I drooled over “Fudged Out” and “Devil In Disguise”. I yearned for the “Latin Lover”, and I wished to taste “A Multitude of Sins”.

Specialty coffees, wines, and liquors are served to compliment your fun and flirty dessert. So with over 30 dessert choices, and many refreshments to choose from, you can pick your poison and your coffin too!

Sweet Revenge

November 13, 2008

Ever feeling down? Feel like you need some revenge? Well at Sweet Revenge you can just eat all that pain, hurt, or anger away! Hopefully, because that’s what I need to do, hahaha.

Sweet Revenge is a wonderful patisserie that I discovered through word of mouth. It’s located on 26th and Main, and boasts a small but well furnished little shop. If you ever crave for rich, chocolately, ooegy, gooey desserts. Sweet Revenge has all of that and more! I guarantee it.

From bread pudding to cream puffs, tiramisu to crème brûlée, Sweet Revenge has it ALL. Did I also tell you that Sweet Revenge has a chocolate cake named after it’s shop? Well it does. Sweet Revenge is a torte-like chocolate cake, coated with dark chocolate ganache. How good does that sound? So good that I want some right now, this instant.

So remember, if you’re ever feeling up for some revenge, Sweet Revenge is the place for you!

Mink Chocolates

October 30, 2008

Hmm.. Before I start, I’d just like to say that perhaps I was a little too ambitious in my last post. I just became really excited with the idea of creating a sweets website that I didn’t think of all the work that it involved. Never fret though, I’ll find a way. Now, onto the sweets!

It’s pay cheque week, and you know what that means! It means that I’ll be scouring Vancouver for new sweet shops to dine in. Since this is my first venture out into the sugary world, I looked up a few places that I simply just have to visit. The one that instantly caught my eye was Mink Chocolates Inc. From what I’ve seen on their website, they definitely know what they’re doing with their chocolate. They have a wide range of chocolate bars, from milk, dark, to ganache filled. They also sell artist series bon bons, truffles, peelers and hot bombs; peelers are orange, lemon, and grapefruit peels dipped in dark chocolate, and hot bombs are Mink’s special arbol and chipotle pepper dark chocolates.

Not only do they sell their products, but they also have a cafe. Their menu boasts many hot and cold drinks, and features fondues, waffles, and parfaits. What I can’t wait to try is their fondue. With a choice of either dark or milk chocolate, and an array of fruits served with your fondue, it’ll become an experience that you’ll never forget. And, if you add a mini hibachi, the fondue becomes a s’more fondue! How tasty does that sound?

Now that I’ve salivated over Mink’s chocolates, I believe it’s about time I went and satisified my craving. So if you ever see a girl with long black hair with uneven highlights, and extremely bright clothing, you’ll know that’s me. I’ll make sure to post up images of my experience. Make sure to come back next time for some more delectable delights!
