Mink Chocolates

October 30, 2008

Hmm.. Before I start, I’d just like to say that perhaps I was a little too ambitious in my last post. I just became really excited with the idea of creating a sweets website that I didn’t think of all the work that it involved. Never fret though, I’ll find a way. Now, onto the sweets!

It’s pay cheque week, and you know what that means! It means that I’ll be scouring Vancouver for new sweet shops to dine in. Since this is my first venture out into the sugary world, I looked up a few places that I simply just have to visit. The one that instantly caught my eye was Mink Chocolates Inc. From what I’ve seen on their website, they definitely know what they’re doing with their chocolate. They have a wide range of chocolate bars, from milk, dark, to ganache filled. They also sell artist series bon bons, truffles, peelers and hot bombs; peelers are orange, lemon, and grapefruit peels dipped in dark chocolate, and hot bombs are Mink’s special arbol and chipotle pepper dark chocolates.

Not only do they sell their products, but they also have a cafe. Their menu boasts many hot and cold drinks, and features fondues, waffles, and parfaits. What I can’t wait to try is their fondue. With a choice of either dark or milk chocolate, and an array of fruits served with your fondue, it’ll become an experience that you’ll never forget. And, if you add a mini hibachi, the fondue becomes a s’more fondue! How tasty does that sound?

Now that I’ve salivated over Mink’s chocolates, I believe it’s about time I went and satisified my craving. So if you ever see a girl with long black hair with uneven highlights, and extremely bright clothing, you’ll know that’s me. I’ll make sure to post up images of my experience. Make sure to come back next time for some more delectable delights!

Off to Candyland we go!…

October 23, 2008

Hello and welcome Vancouver, to your Weekly Dose of Sugar! How you happened upon this page, I do not know, but I’m glad you did, for you’re in for a sweet ride. Here on Weekly Dose of Sugar, you will read about my sugary, sweet adventures in Vancouver. Watch as I waste away my pay cheque to splurge on delicious delights and enter a state of diabetic coma. Join me as I journey through Candyland and Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

Once I have my website, Sugar Coated, up and running. Not only will it feature my blog, Weekly Dose of Sugar, but it’ll have many other neat features as well. Such features include: recipes, must visit locations in Vancouver, top 10: better than sex treats, Sweet Exchange, and weekly challenges.

Sweet Exchange is a penpal-like concept that I came up with. Instead of writing and sending letters to one another, you would instead send sweets such as chocolate or candy. The idea is to be able to try sweets from different parts of Canada or the world without having to leave your own home. Of course, the two people involved would have to come to terms on the value of the sweets before purchasing and mailing them. But aside from that, this is one sweet concept!

Every week I will be issuing out a challenge for my audience to take up. The idea behind this is to involve you, the readers, during my journey through Candyland. As challenges are completed, readers will be able to post comments or pictures of their successful, or not so successful, completion. Challenges may include trying out a new recipe, finding a new sweet location, or just creating something that tastes good.

Week by week, I hope not only to share my adventures, but I also hope to have your thoughts or recommendations. After all, one can’t start an adventure without a little help.

Vancouver, this is your ultimate guide to sweets.
